Coinciding with the World Environment Day, Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde in collaboration with Dzongkhag Administration, Samdrup Jongkhar launched a "Beautification plan for Samdrup Jongkhar Throm." The program was attended by Regional and Sector Heads, Coordinators and Focal of various organizations.

The program started with the reception of Chief Guest (Dasho Drangpon), Marchang Ceremony and Offering of Zhabten. Sr. HR Officer Sonam Jamtsho welcomed all the participants and talked on the importance of launching the Beautification Plan. The Chief Guest through his keynote address also talked on the importance of the day and our responsibility to keep out surrounding clean and beautiful.

Then it was followed by the launching of Beautification Plan booklet by the Chief Guest. A 13-page booklet is the product of the consultation meeting held on 22nd April 2024 with Regional Offices, Agencies, Sectors and the Public Representatives. This Plan brings all the agencies, sectors, and offices, including the general public together to enhance the aesthetic appeal of public spaces, streets and landmarks, and encourage the sense of ownership and belonginess. This booklet is a guiding framework for all the agencies and offices as it is based on reward-based mechanism, where top 3 agencies are rewarded annually based on evaluation done every two months by the monitoring team against the set criteria.

To brings this initiative into force and remind every agency about our commitment, Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Thromde Administration and 35 Agencies/Offices. To mark the day and kickstart the noble initiative, inaugural plantation ceremony was carried out where all the participants and Chief Guest took part.
