The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC) visited Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde and held a meeting on waste prevention and management. The meeting was attended by the Thrompon, Executive Secretary, and Division Heads.
During the meeting, the Environment Officer presented the current status of waste management in the Thromde, highlighting daily waste generation, operation and maintenance costs, landfill management practices, key challenges, and the way forward for achieving a more sustainable and efficient waste management system.
The meeting provided a valuable platform to discuss ongoing waste management initiatives, address existing challenges, and explore strategies to strengthen waste prevention and management for a cleaner and greener.
